All first time travelers are requested to visit the respective VFS application centers to schedule their interviews, as they are obliged to submit their visa applications in person at the German Consulate General in Chennai. Frequent travelers may present their applications through a representative at the VFS application centers or can submit their application through registered travel agents.
Please note that there is currently a waiting period of 15 days for the mandatory visa interview. Submission of visa applications without the required visa interview will result in a reject. The German Consulate General, therefore, strongly recommends applying for your visa at least 4 weeks prior to your intended departure date!
SPECIAL INSTRUCTION
Prior to interview booking the documents will be verified and returned to the applicant in a sealed cover. Please do not open the sealed cover or remove any documents. The cover should be opened by German Consulate, Chennai only.
If you intend to participate in a training programme in Germany, please submit two complete sets of documents and keep in mind that the visa process might take more time due to the necessary involvement of German and/or Schengen authorities.
Schengen visa is valid for -
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.
Business Visa Requirements
1. Passport valid at least 3 months beyond duration of stay in Schengen states with at least one empty page. Please note you should produce all your new & old passports.
2. Application Form and Declaration Forms (I. Declaration of the "Provision of True and Correct Information ". ii. Declaration on "German Health Insurance".) Duly filled in and Signed by applicant. (should be back to back printed, Please ensure that you signed the form and added your complete Indian address incl. pin code and Tel./Fax/e-mail under your signature.)
3. 4 Passport size photographs (White background with a contrast Colour dress / non-digital) one attached to the application form (keep the extra photo’s loose in the passport and do not staple or use a gem clip).(Specification attached)
4. Covering letter from the company on letterhead stating applicant’s name, designation, purpose and duration of visit
5. Invitation Letter from the counterpart Germany indicating the purpose, duration of stay, mentioning which party is bearing the expenses of the trip. Invitation should mention the name and designation of the signatory and should be in both German as well English languages. (Original, no copy or fax)
6. Confirmed hotel accommodation (original and A4 size copy)
7. Income Tax papers for last 3 years
8. Bank statement for last 6 months (Original and A4 size copy)
9. Salary Slip for the last 3 moths
10. Foreign exchange duly endorsed / copy of credit card
11. Confirmed return Air Ticket copy on A4 size paper
12. Health Insurance to cover the duration of stay in Schengen states (original and A4 size copy)
